Installation process: from laying to completion

The installation process of UNIGRASS artificial turf includes the following key steps:

I. Preparing the Substrate
  To ensure proper installation of artificial turf, the ground in the laying area must first be leveled by removing surface sod, mulch, or other obstructions. Then, excavate the ground to the required depth of approximately 70-100mm.

II. Compacting the Base
  To ensure a level surface for artificial turf installation, first lay a layer of crushed stone and spread it evenly with a rake. Next, compact it using a roller until it resists foot indentation. This crushed stone layer provides support for the turf and aids drainage. The base should have a 1%-2% slope to facilitate rainwater runoff, preventing water accumulation beneath the turf. For sports fields, installing a shock-absorbing underlayment is essential to reduce impact forces during activities. Lay a 10-20mm thick cushioning pad over the compacted base. Cut the pad to fit the field's shape, align the seams, and secure them with specialized tape or adhesive to prevent shifting. Select a cushioning pad with excellent drainage properties to facilitate rapid water runoff.

III. Turf Artificial Installation
  Once the foundation is prepared, lay the artificial turf over the gravel or shock-absorbing pad. If using multiple artificial turf sections, ensure they are oriented in the same direction. The grass  direction must be consistent to prevent color variations, and seams should align. The turf should be slightly larger than the installation area to ensure complete coverage. You can trim any excess with a utility knife at any time.

IV. Securing Seams
  For a more realistic appearance, ensure seams are flawless. After laying the turf, align the seams. Lift the overlapping edges of adjacent sections and place artificial turf tape underneath, ensuring it lies flat with the adhesive side facing up. Apply specialized adhesive evenly to the back of the turf and the adhesive surface of the tape. Replace the turf onto the tape and apply weight pressure to the surface, ensuring no gaps remain. Finally, secure the edges with U-shaped staples every 300mm to prevent shifting. Trim any overlapping edges with a utility knife.

V. Infill Material
  To help reduce the load on artificial turf, infill material like quartz sand or rubber granules over the surface. This anchors the turf fibers, keeps them upright, and prevents flattening from foot traffic. For routine maintenance, use an artificial grass brushing machine. This not only cleans the surface and combs the fibers but also evenly distributes infill particles, preserving the turf's appearance and performance. Afterward, you and your family or pets can enjoy leisure time on the lawn~
