Cameroon is one of Africa's most football-passionate nations, with growing demand for professional-grade sports facilities that can serve both competitive and recreational use. The client required a high-performance indoor pitch capable of withstanding year-round tropical conditions while delivering a competition-ready surface with minimal operational overhead. UNIGRASS was pround to supply and install this artificial grass system, providing full technical specification support.
The Challenge
Cameroon's average temperatures above 28 °C, intense year-round UV radiation, and heavy seasonal rainfall are conditions that expose the limitations of inferior turf: accelerated fibre degradation, poor water evacuation, and surface hardening that raises injury risk.
The client required a football pitch that could:
- Withstand continuous tropical UV exposure
- Drain rainfall rapidly to minimise downtime
- Meet international playing standards to host organised competitions, not just casual use
- Deliver long-term ROI through reduced maintenance spend and extended lifespan
The UNIGRASS Solution
Turf Specification
| Parameter | Specification |
| Turf Standard | FIFA Standad (Performance-Verified) |
| Fibre Type | PE Monofilament + Texturised |

UNIGRASS specified a monofilament PE turf system with anti-UV treatment and a perforated composite backing — selected specifically to hold up under Cameroon's equatorial heat and high-frequency rainfall without performance degradation.
No irrigation, no mowing, no seasonal intervention. This operational model well-suited to the commercial realities of sports venue management in West Africa.
RESULTS and OUTCOMES
"Everyone says it's perfect. The pitch has been in use for some time now and the feedback has been consistently positive — we've even had people reach out wanting to build the same for themselves." — Client, Cameroon
