PROJECT OVERVIEW

Sports education is a core component of modern campus development across China. To meet the daily physical education classes, school sports meetings, student football training and after-school recreational activities, this campus carried out a full renovation of its sports field.

The school required a safe, low-maintenance, all-weather sports complex combining a standard football field and 400m running track. Natural grass was ruled out due to heavy daily student foot traffic, high watering requirements and difficult upkeep. The Challenge

1. High Frequency Daily Student Usage

The sports ground serves hundreds of students every school day for PE lessons, running training and football activities. The surface must withstand continuous heavy foot traffic, frequent starting and stopping, spikes and cleats, without rapid wear, fibre shedding or track surface cracking.

2. Strict Safety

As a campus facility used by minors, the whole sports system must meet stringent environmental standards. Low heavy metal content, low VOC, non-toxic raw materials are mandatory to reduce injury risk during falls and avoid harmful substance release under strong sunlight.

3. Year-round Variable Climate

The site has hot humid summers with intense UV radiation and cold winters. The turf and track need to resist UV ageing, rainwater soaking, thermal expansion and contraction, while maintaining stable performance in high temperature and low temperature conditions.

4. Fast Construction Schedule

The renovation project was scheduled during vacation periods. The construction team had limited time to complete base preparation, turf laying, track paving, line marking and site handover before school reopened, minimising disturbance to teaching activities.
